South Korean sportswear giant Fila has collaborated with Grammy-winning American rapper Johnathan H. Smith, better known as Lil Jon. The dynamic duo team up for an all-new limited-edition capsule, which pays homage to the rapper’s hometown of Atlanta.

The collaborative collection will feature a range of apparel and a silhouette of footwear. For the collection, Lil Jon recruited Atlanta-based artist Freako Rico to design the graphics for the collection. The collection was launched on Fila’s official e-commerce site on June 23, 2022, with a retail price range of $35 to $118.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper has always loved the Fila label. In fact, for his song, fila (Forever I Love Atlanta), which debuted in 2004, Lil Jon even paid homage to the South Korean shoe brand. Today, 18 years after the debut of the song, the rapper finally gets his first collaboration with the shoe giant.

The next collaboration between the rapper and the shoe brand offers a 3-piece collection. The collection includes two graphic tees and a specially designed pair of sneakers called The Renno. Speaking about the collaboration, in a press release issued by the label, Lil Jon said:

“I’m from Atlanta where we use the acronym ‘Forever I Love Atlanta’. We rock FILA, and we never stopped rocking FILA. The acronym and the city are linked.”

The Atlanta native rapper is a longtime fan of the South Korean shoe brand. For the newly launched collaboration, the rapper decided to pay homage to his hometown and his hometown, Atlanta. He added a personal touch to the two graphic tees and the Renno silhouette launched in 2021, while giving a special nod to his community.

The limited-edition 3-piece capsule clothing choices include a classic tee, dubbed the Vulk Short-Sleeve Tee. The t-shirts feature a colorful graphic print and are available in white and black colourways.

The t-shirt is highlighted in the collection, since specifically for the t-shirts, Lil Jon has called on an artist and creative based in Atlanta, Richard Montgomery. Montgomery is popularly known as Freako Rico and is known for his illustrations that fuse the world of hip-hop with comics.

Speaking of Freako Rico’s involvement in the collaborative capsule, Jon says,

“”Freako Rico is a highly respected artist in Atlanta and it was important to me that we used a local creative to represent my hometown. His bright, vibrant illustrations and 90s design style captured the freshness of FILA Renno.”

The t-shirts feature graphic designs and incorporate Lil Jon’s popular phrase, “AYEEE!”, which has different meanings. One such meaning is a representation of the rapper’s hometown of Atlanta. The tees are available in two colorways – 001 Black and 100 White and in sizes S to 4XL.

Next in the offering is the Renno silhouette, which comes dressed in the 662 Aurora Pink/Brilliant White/Fila Red colorway. The sneakers are made in the aforementioned hues with metallic silver accents.

Atlanta-based rapper Lil Jon personally picked the color combination to deliver a unique and unexpected colorway for his fans.

The base of the shoes is made of leather in a white color, with pink accents and a red Fila flag, and the laces are coated in a red and white dual tone. The languages ​​are marked with the letters “Renno” and “Fila”. Meanwhile, the mud flaps feature another Atlanta reference with “AYEEE” lettering.

Additional branding can be seen on the trainers with ‘FILA’ lettering above the heel tags, next to the lacing system. The iconic “F” logo is visible on the outsoles and treads. Finally, the insoles are adorned with an all-over graphic print that combines the letters “AYEEE” and “ATL”.

The shoes can be used on the official e-commerce site for $118 in sizes US 4.5 to US 15.
