City of West Hartford Revenue Collection announced Friday that real estate, business personal property and motor vehicle tax bills will be mailed to property owners on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.

This year there are two different mileage rates: a mileage rate of 32.46 has been set for motor vehicles following a rate cap adopted by the General Assembly on May 3, 2022 through the draft Bill 5506. City Council set the mill rate at 40.68. for business real estate and personal property. The Board also adopted a two-year phase-in to implement the October 1, 2021 revaluation of real estate. A letter explaining the tax calculation method will accompany the real estate invoices.

The phasing-in only affects properties that have increased in value. For the first year of the progressive implementation, the tax bills of July 1, 2022 and January 1, 2023, the tax bill is calculated by multiplying the mill rate by only part of the new assessment.

Real estate is billed twice. The first installment is due on July 1, 2022 and covers the period from July 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022. The second installment is due on January 1, 2023 and covers the period from January 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.

Motor vehicle tax invoices relate to vehicles registered on October 1, 2021 and cover the period from October 1, 2021 to September 30, 2022.
