Wedding coordinator warns couples about service scams

IF IT IS too good to be true, consider other options.

This is what a wedding coordinator advised prospective couples, following the incident of a scam on their wedding day.

Alnair Agujar, owner of Chasing Perfection Weddings and Events, told SunStar Cebu that the incident that struck bride Cherry Pie Purisima and husband Arniel Satingasin at the hands of Naser Fuentes was tragic.

“No couple deserves to have such an experience, especially during their one-off event,” he said.

For future couples, Agujar said they should take the time to review the legitimacy of the wedding planner and other vendors, check their portfolios, recent work, reviews of past clients and co-vendors.

“If you feel like the service is so cheap and too good to be true, consider looking for other options,” he said.

Joan Lapus, spokesperson for Cebu Wedding Suppliers, said what had happened was unacceptable.

“You cannot go back in time to correct what was done. It should have been a beautiful memory rather than a trauma. We in the events industry do not condone or condone such acts among members,” she declared.

Lapus urged brides who are considering hiring the services of a wedding planner to do their research on their candidate.

“Ask about background and past work, ask for recommendations on the spot, ask friends if they know anyone. It’s better to be safe than sorry. And another thing, check with each supplier, in especially big ticket items like venues, if their event was really booked, ”she said. (JOB)
