Two stores sealed, three fined for price controls

LAHORE: The district administration launched a massive price control campaign on Tuesday to ensure the implementation of the official edible price list here.

Officials said the campaign was launched on the instructions of Lahore DC Omar Sher Chattha, who ordered all deputy commissioners to carry out field visits and ensure the implementation of official price lists and the supply of flour and other necessary edibles in all small and mega grocery stores. Deputy City Commissioner Adnan Rasheed checked Mal Din Store, Premium Mart Islampura and D-Mart Store Gulshan-e-Ravi. D-Mart Store and Premium Mart Islampura were closed due to unavailability of flour.

Assistant Commissioner Shalimar Zeeshan Nadeem visited Nematkhana Department Store, Raisen Cash & Carry and Euro Store. Raisen Cash & Carry was fined 50,000 rupees for selling sugar at exorbitant rates, while Euro Store was fined 30,000 rupees for not posting the price list at a conspicuous place. Deputy Commissioner Cantt Qarat-ul-Ain Zafar visited the Green Valley store and fined Rs 70,000 for not posting the price list in a prominent place.

Assistant Commissioner Raiwind Hamid Rashid and Assistant Commissioner Model Town Sonia Sadaf also visited various stores. DC said all officers ensure the availability of flour and other essentials at DC counters in mega stores and general stores in their respective tehsils. He concluded that the district administration was committed to providing all possible relief to the citizens of Lahore.
