Telangana Govt Approves 90% Land Tax Arrears Waiver Under ‘One-Stop Scheme’ – The New Indian Express

HYDERABAD: With landowners owed Rs 1,999.24 crore in land tax arrears pending in all urban local bodies including Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), and interest on such arrears reaching Rs 1,626 .83 crore at the end of the 2021 -22 financial year, the state government has authorized a one-time scheme which is seen as a win-win situation for all.

The scheme provides a 90% waiver of accrued interest on property tax arrears, provided taxpayers pay the principal amount by 2021-22 as well as 10% of accrued interest on arrears at one time regarding tax. on buildings under OTS in all ULBs, including the GHMC.

For taxpayers who paid their property taxes in full, including interest/penalties through March 2022 in the current fiscal year before this regime came into effect, 90% of those interest/penalties would be adjusted on future payments.

The Commissioner, GHMC and the Director of Hyderabad Municipal Administration would take all necessary steps at various times during this period to give wide publicity and publicity to this scheme. This awareness campaign would consist of contacting each of these addresses, sending them messages, making phone calls and placing advertisements in print and electronic media.

A mechanism will be put in place to ensure daily monitoring and to ensure that the OTS is done transparently. OTS will resume in campaign mode and the program will end on October 10, depending on orders. After carefully considering the proposal, the government approved the program, sources said.
