Livingston County Treasurer Nikki Meier said Livingston County property tax bills were mailed out on Friday, May 27.
A total of 25,900 tax bills were mailed. Total estimated tax revenue to be collected is $76,313,928, which will be distributed to the county’s 223 tax agencies.
The first installment will be due on Wednesday, July 13 and the second installment on Tuesday, September 13.
Payments can be deposited into either of two payment drop boxes at the historic courthouse, 112 W. Madison St., Pontiac. One is located next to the south entrance at the top of the stairs and the other is located on the west side next to the elevator. Payments can also be made by mail or at most county banks.
Payments by credit or debit card or electronic check can also be made on the county’s website. Go to http://www.livingstoncountyil.gov and click on the treasurer’s page. Credit card companies charge a 2.25% convenience fee and the fee will appear separately on your receipt and monthly statement. The fee for processing an electronic check is a flat rate of $2. Online payments by credit or debit card will be accepted until Friday November 4th.
After September 13, payments will no longer be accepted at area banks and must be made directly to the Treasurer’s Office. Personal checks will no longer be accepted after October 17 and payment after this date must be made by cashier’s check, money order, credit card or cash. Late notices will be mailed around October 17th. The names of defaulting owners will be published in local newspapers during the week of October 24.
