Through this research, Keypoint Intelligence gathered information from consumers and small business customers to take a closer look at the future likelihood of online shopping for a number of customer groups. Both surveys collected detailed information about online purchases of printing materials, supplies, and paper over the past year. The consumer survey targeted respondents who print from home for home and business purposes, while the business survey included respondents who work in businesses with less than 50 employees.
“This study focuses on the rise of the e-commerce channel and shows that up to 59% of our respondents say they are very satisfied with their online shopping experience,” noted Deborah Hawkins, director of Keypoint Intelligence’s desktop technology group. “Additional findings reveal that subscription services represent a growth opportunity and that worker locations play a role in the level of online shopping.”
The survey captured 1,531 consumers and 301 small businesses in the United States, as well as 939 consumers and 367 small businesses in the United States. Europe. The Keypoint Intelligence Respondent Profile included the following:
- Full-time or part-time employee who works 21 hours or more
- Company with 1 to 50 employees
- Is responsible for computing or purchasing office supplies, products or services used in business operations
- Purchased printer ink and/or toner online after the pandemic began in 2020
- Purchase ink and/or toner for inkjet or laser printers
