Confused Britons have just found out that there is a pub dedicated to Princess Diana in Malta and many don’t know what to think.

The island’s Lady Di pub in the peaceful town of Sliema is full of framed royal memorabilia and a roaring trade.

It was named in her honor after owner Frankie Cutajar accidentally met the Princess at a dinner party many years ago.

It opened on July 29, 1981 – the day of her fairytale wedding to Prince Charles.

Customers are greeted with his face upon arrival with a large sign hanging outside the boozer.

Inside, plates and photos of Diana are everywhere you turn, while unique photos keep watch over punters while enjoying a beer.

With a 4.5 rating on Trip Advisor, the pub is clearly popular – although it has left many in the UK scratching their heads.

A clip of a vacationer Harry jones trip was picked up by cult Instagram account Love Of Huns.

Captioning the video, the account sarcastically wrote, “Ar Di would have loved a tequila sunrise and ham and cheese toast.”

Many loved it and it looks like hundreds of people are already planning their next vacation.

The pub has been open since the day Diana married Charles

One of them commented: “This is what she would have wanted.

Another teased: “Prince Philip would love this x.”

A third asked her boyfriend: “Can we go on vacation to Malta to visit this place?”

But someone else just commented, “Sorry, what’s a what?”

It has a high TripAdvisor rating of 4.5

Owner Frankie Cutajar kept his promise to the princess

Frankie Cutajar, the owner of Lady Di Pub, explained why he runs a purposeful pub to the Princess, who tragically lost her life in Paris in 1997.

He says people even left flowers outside after the car crash in France.

“I was having dinner with a well connected friend of mine in a London restaurant when he introduced me to Lady Diana”, he told the Times of Malta three years ago.

“I told her I would name a bar after her to record the momentous event of her marriage to Prince Charles.”

He added: “After serving as an antique shop for a few years we decided to open it as a pub – many visitors who came to Malta and stayed in the surrounding hotels in Sliema were British, we So had no doubts about what we were going to call our new pub.
